Rail India Conference & Expo 2018 wraps up successfully discussing the development and way forward in Indian Rail Industry

A high-profile panel of experts including government authorities came together for the 3rd edition of Rail India Conference & Expo which was inaugurated by Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board, Ministry of Railways. The conference-cum-exhibition brought together 145 attendees including 27 eminent speakers representing entire cross section of the industry.

Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board assured, “By 2020 dedicated freight corridors linking northern side to eastern side will be operational, along with high speed railway between Mumbai and Ahmedabad which would be operational by 2023” at the inauguration of The Rail India Conference & Expo. Further to this he also congratulated Messe Frankfurt India for organising the conference and bringing together all the relevant stakeholders of the Indian rail industry under one roof. Mr. Jean-Marc FENET (Minister-Counsellor, Head of the Regional Economic Department), Embassy of France, Mr. Milan Dostal, Commercial Economic Counsellor, Embassy of the Czech Republic and Mr. Akshay Purkayastha, Director – Transport & Logistics, CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory were also the part of panel.

The first day touched upon important industry subject including new initiatives in high speed rail, future of train sets in India, port connectivity, redevelopment, advancement, initiatives and future plans for the development. The second day surmised topics by the industry stalwarts like Shri S K Lohia, Managing Director & Chief Executive officer, IRSDC; Shri H K Raghu, Executive Director - Urban Transport & High Speed Directorate, RDSO; Shri Puneet Chawla, Executive Director (Safety), Railway Board; Shri Mukesh Nigam, Managing Director, CRIS; Shri Ankala Saibaba, Chief Engineer, Indian Railways, Mr. Kishore Desai, OSD, Niti Aayog; Mr. Praveen Goyal, Director System, SYSTRA; Shri P R Jaishankar, CEO, IIFCL Projects Ltd (IPL), Chief general Manager, IIFCL.
